Getting to School

Today had it's ups and downs. Seemed like more downs than ups this morning though. The girls decided to play with the toaster this morning. It is usually unplugged but not today. So they melted the remains of a bag of choc. chips on top of it. Josh wouldn't get on the bus, I had to drive him to school, he wouldn't go to his room, even with the teacher and had to be pulled off of me and then I left.

He went to see the guidance counselor and calmed down, drew a picture and left for his classroom on his own. He was actually pretty happy to have spent time with the g.c. and told me about it when he came home this afternoon.

Mira was late for her school because of Josh. But then things looked up. Evie and I got some shopping done at Target and went to storytime at the library. It is fun to have her all to myself. We picked Mira up and did our normal home, lunch nap routine.

I worked with Mira again today on a reading lesson. Today we did 'e'. She initiated the lesson today so that was fun. She likes playing with her little dolls and we do that plus a story before nap. Most days she doesn't sleep and getting her to 'rest' for a few minutes is a battle but every day we try.

Josh came home from school very happy and we all played outside for a while. When we came in, Josh read a few pages of 'Catch Me, Catch Me' aloud by himself while I cooked dinner. He is doing Pizza Hut's 'Book It' program.

We'll see what tomorrow brings!

Progress

We removed the training wheels from Joshua's bike a week ago Friday and by Sunday of that week he was riding like a pro. He has ridden his bike twice a day every day since then and is doing great. I have been enjoying taking him out on the street to ride around the neighborhood while I ride my own bike with the girls in the trailer.

Kindergarten is going very well for Joshua. He is thriving and making new friends. Mira is a star in preschool. She was just made for school and has been looking forward to this moment, I think, since she was born :-)

Today I started working on reading with Mira and we did the first lesson in the Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Your Child to Read . We also working on tieing a bow. It is fun to have time with her one on one.

Evie and have have MWF 9-11:30 to share, just us, while Mira and Josh are both in school. I am still getting into the swing of things but it is so nice to have just Evie for a little while. We get special time together and I can run errands more easily.
